In the previous issue, the CBT reported a discussion of the merger between the two universities raising with Glocal University 30 projects. Just before the publication¡¯s release, we got some advice from Director Gu Bon-sang. Director Gu expressed a desire to show the ¡°direction¡± in the article rather than maintaining ¡°neutrality¡± and hoped that readers would form their thoughts through the article representing a ¡°specific¡± direction.
 
ToyTalez, is a doll hospital located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Just as people go to hospital when they are sick, dolls visit this hospital when they have defects. CBT reporters interviewed Kim Kap-yeon, CEO of ToyTalez, who mends broken dolls and gives hope to people who think of them as family members. This article covers the foundation and future direction of ToyTalez. It also gives information for readers who are interested in a doll doctor, and touching stories of visitors.
 
As the competitiveness of local universities weakens due to the decrease in the school age population and the concentration of population in the metropolitan areas, the need for university innovation is emerging. Accordingly, the government plans to select 30 universities in non-metropolitan areas with the will and capabilities of innovation through the Glocal University 30 project and provide KRW 100 billion to each university over a period of five years to grow them into world-class universities. CBNU applied for this project as a team on the premise of integrating with KNUT (Korea National University of Transportation), and was selected as one of the 15 universities that received the first preliminary designation on June 20.
 
Olimpia Zagnoli is an Italian illustrator born in 1984 and she is active in many fields. She is engaged in various works from design to kinetic art, ceramics, neon signs, and media art. Soft lines and color like a chameleon characterize her works, which evokes positive energy and pleasant imagination in spectators. In collaboration with Innisfree, a Korean cosmetics brand, cosmetic cases were launched with illustrations of her in 2017. Moreover, she collaborated with global brands such as Prada, Dior, Fendi, Max Mara, and Mandarina Duck.
 
The Korean expression ¡°Mudjima¡± means ¡°do not ask why¡± and Mudjima crimes are frequently reported in the news. In fact, in Korean society, Mudjima crimes have been a common occurrence for a long time. Mudjima crimes are crimes which are committed against random citizens who do not know their attackers. In 2022, the police officially defined Mudjima crimes as Abnormal Motive Crimes. Let¡¯s take a look at three cases that happened recently. The first occurred at Sillim Station, where a man in his 30s killed four people in a knife rampage. Another occurred at Seohyeon Station, where a man in his 20s crashed into a crowd on the sidewalk with his car, where he hit the pedestrians, and then killed 14 people in a knife rampage.
 
On July 18, a teacher at Seoul Seo2 Elementary School committed suicide in the school. After it was confirmed that there were malicious complaints from parents and difficulties in guiding students, teachers from all over the country held protests for five weeks straight chanting ¡°Guarantee teachers right to live!¡± Voices for the protection of teachers rights have grown in response to the normalization of educational sites and the desperation not to lose another fellow teacher.
 
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) announced that this July has been recorded as the hottest month in Earth¡¯s history. According to the WMO, on July 7, the average planetary temperature reached 17.24 ¡É, marking it the highest temperature ever recorded in history. As the extreme heat wave persists in southern Europe, it caused a large number of wildfires, causing Greek residents to evacuate. Europe is not the only region suffering severe damage from abnormal climate. In the U.S., 40% of Americans, which is over 150 million people, constantly receive heat wave warnings.
 
According to Doopedia, spicy refers to a taste that is stimulating enough to cause pain. It is generally accepted that a certain degree of spiciness helps relieve stress and promotes appetite to activate digestion. Therefore, many dishes use hot spices like chili pepper or Chinese pepper combined with garlic, onion, and horseradish. The boom in demand for spicy cuisine, which began with grilled chicken feet, jjamppong, and tteokbokki, has recently become more intense with a demand for a wider variety of even spicier foods. Mala, a spicy and numbing seasoning made from Sichuan peppercorn and chilly has recently appeared on the radar of social media users.
 
On Aug. 28, at a party banquet, President Yoon Suk-yeol criticized the opposition party and the media, saying, ¡°The opposition supporters are controlling the media, so they constantly curse the government 24 hours a day.¡± This narrow-minded media view, where the president of a country simply views criticism of the government as a curse, seems to echo the words of a tyrannical king. It is clear why President Yoon does not take into account his constitutional obligation to guarantee freedom of the press and has no awareness of the far-reaching consequences of his words and actions that undermine the independence of the press.
 
¡°The Shawshank Redemption,¡± is a prison drama film released in 1994, based on the novella ¡°Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.¡± It was directed by Frank Darabont, starring Tim Robbins as the main character ¡°Andy Dufresne¡±, and Morgan Freeman as his fellow inmate and friend Red. The film tells the narrative of Andy Dufresne¡¯s two-decade-long incarceration within the fictional penitentiary known as Shawshank and his friendship with Red. The film was nominated in seven categories at the Academy Awards.
