We often hear the words, ¡°Think rationally.¡± Should rationality, however, always be the answer for everything in our life? In fact, the rationalistic bias can promote various types of dichotomous entities in human life, such as truth and untruth, reality and magic, the real and the unreal, or the visible and the invisible. The development of today¡¯s technology may even symbolize the loss of the unreal, and it sometimes creates an obsession with visible evidences and scientific proofs in every matter,

I took the university entrance exam three times with the goal to go to a medical school. I could only apply for regular admissions because my school records were messed up. However, while challenging to take the university entrance three times, the thought that it was unfair that my chance had been deprived permeated me.

I¡¯ve lived in one of the CBNU dormitories, YangJinJae, since last year. The funny thing is that I¡¯ve seen many couples smooching in the dorm quite often unlike last year. There is a lobby where students can take a rest on some couches or use some facilities. Whenever I walk past the lobby, I frown at some couples kissing or hugging.

Very few would think that CBNU sports a clean and pleasant environment around it. Try walking around Joongmoon area after dark without running into empty coffee cups, cigarette butts, or other abominations. The streets are very, VERY dirty. It¡¯s not something that¡¯s happening recently, nor is it a problem unique to our school. So why bring it up now?

The top two questions that I have been asked the most in the university are ¡®Do you want to drink?¡¯ and ¡®Do you have a boyfriend?¡¯. My answer for both questions is no, but that word makes an awkward atmosphere. People usually respond, ¡®Well, okay,¡¯ with unnatural smiles, and I can feel their furtive glances at me.

When I was a freshman or sophomore, I didn¡¯t envy the students wearing school uniforms. I just thought, ¡°If I could go back to the past, I would live more sincerely.¡± and that was all. I was proud of being a university student and I didn¡¯t want to be a high school student who has to study all day long until 10 or 11 p.m. every day.

Freshmen students begin their first school year with full of drive and optimism, and so they would be enthusiastic in participating a lot of welcoming parties and social gatherings at their departments and clubs. But then, they would experience several uncomfortable and sometimes even violent welcoming practices.

I lived in the Philippines from Feb. 2008 to Jan. 2010 because of my father¡¯s transfer. I was 13 years old, and I was a freshman in a local private high school. Then, I transferred to an international school and attended that school for a year. As I heard many times before going to the Philippines,

My hometown is Daegu. Now, I stay in Cheongju because of university, but during vacation, I stay in Daegu with my family. The downtown of Daegu is called Jungang-ro, which is the best place to hang out with someone. I often go there with my younger sister or friends.

In a pamphlet published by the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Japan asserts that ¡°the most frequently used method of naming sea areas separated from an ocean is to use the name of a major archipelagic arc or a peninsula that separates the sea area in question from the ocean.¡± It cites as examples the ¡°Sea of Japan¡±, the ¡°Andaman Sea¡±, the ¡°Gulf of California¡± and the ¡°Irish Sea¡±.

The story of wealthy Rothschild¡¯s family shows why information is important. In the nineteenth century, there was a war between Napoleon¡¯s France and the Allied Forces, which consisted of the United Kingdom and other European nations. This famous war is called the Battle of Waterloo, and the Rothschild¡¯s family became the richest family through the war

Korean¡¯s hurried culture is well-known. In the past, it might have held a negative meaning of a hot-headed Korean, but these days it represents Korea¡¯s main image of achieving high growth

Sometimes, the concept of scientific definition is used in the social sciences or the humanities. Entropy is a typical example. Even though entropy is very difficult to understand in chemistry or physics, some people who have not studied chemistry or physics can talk about entropy easily. If someone said that entropy has increased spontaneously when seeing a messy room.

Time has passed like an arrow. When I first entered the pressroom of The Chungbuk Times(CBT), I was a college freshman, but now 2 and a half years have passed, and I¡¯m waiting to become a senior. Being a reporter of CBT has been the best activity during my university life until now.

Recently, in Inha University, they started to reduce or abolish the capacity of some departments in the College of Humanities. For example, the Dept. of Philosophy and French Language and Culture will be abolished, and their major classes will be liberal arts classes. In case of the Dept. of English Language and Literature and Japanese Language and Culture, their capacity will be reduced

Radiation is an important part of our lives. Even though we do not know much or are not interested in sciences such as nuclear physics or chemistry, radiation stays with us. For example, radiation therapy is one of the most common treatments for cancer.

When we place new furniture in a room, we can have headaches or rhinitis, and we call that phenomenon sick furniture syndrome. From this year, there is a controversy that domestic furniture contains more harmful substances and causes sick furniture syndrome more often than foreign furniture.

I¡¯ve always been raising pets since I was young. My first pet was a dog. In the last 12 years, she has always been with me. In my childhood, whenever I came back home from school, I was always with my pets. Because of this reason, I¡¯m more sensitive to animals than people.

Many scholars say we are living in the postmodern world where many of our traditional values have been exhausted. Postmodern tendencies basically resist conventions that highlight the dichotomous system of binary oppositions, blurring intellectual boundaries and incorporating various disciplines in our lives.

Last September 15th, Mark Zuckerberg, who is the CEO of Facebook, said that he is examining adding buttons that can show diverse emotions other than the ¡®like¡¯ button on Facebook. He has continuously received requests of adding a ¡®dislike¡¯ button since 2009,
