It has been almost three years since I entered the Chungbuk Times (CBT), and my term as the editor-in-chief was finished when the 113th issue was published. Therefore, I thought more about the CBT and about the past three years while I was working for this newspaper. At first, the reason why I decided to enter the CBT was for studying English. I only had an interest in English, so I was determined to work in CBT for two years. In fact, I didn¡¯t expect to become editor-in-chief and to work for about three years.
The CBT had more merits than my thought. Although it was hard to write articles, my mental vision was widened as I met many people and saw many things. Also, my mind matured as I listened to the advice from many interviewees.
There were also many hard things as I worked for the CBT. I was scolded by upper grade students, and I stayed up all night at the office. When I recall the past, I am surprised that I accomplished so much. However, the activities in the CBT were not only hard, but also interesting.
Three years ago, when I was about to enter CBNU, I didn¡¯t have a dream. The reason for choosing my major was only because of my score on the entrance exam. Therefore, I was lacking in confidence. However, I could find possibilities through the activities in the CBT, and I gained confidence. Also, I have met many people and visited various places. I think I wouldn¡¯t have had those experiences if I hadn¡¯t worked for the CBT.
I think the biggest merit in the CBT was to develop my English skill. Now, I can write, read, and speak English. Even though my English skill is not perfect, I can understand my major textbook in English naturally. My speaking and writing skills also became better.
I remembered the promise that I made when I entered the CBT. It was, ¡°Even if I decide to give up, I¡¯ll stay at least two years.¡± There have been so many difficult moments, but I remembered the promise and didn¡¯t want to break it. Above all, I thought that if I gave up CBT, I couldn¡¯t do anything in society.
There are no easy jobs in the world. Also, nobody is skillful from the first moment. The most important thing is endeavoring patiently. As you repeat the work, you will be good at it. After you hone your skills, you will like the work. I became good at English, and I found my dream because I didn¡¯t give up CBT. Therefore, I am thankful for the CBT. I hope that reporters don¡¯t give up CBT. Also, CBNU students should keep striving for their dreams.
