Are you seeing someone at this moment? A book says that love is a great experience that suddenly comes and makes you disappear. Anyone who has truly loved someone agrees with it. The sad thing, however, is that they disappear, and only their lovers are left in love. In other words, they are so in love that they leave themselves alone and live blindly for their lovers.
   Your life without yourself is sad and dangerous. It becomes clear when your lover is gone. A few weeks ago, I had a chance to talk with my friend who was suffering from a break-up with his girlfriend. Not long after listening to him, I came to recognize what the problem had been. He devoted himself to love her, and he forced his girlfriend to be excessively loved though he should have left a certain amount of love for himself. Therefore, in the end, only he, who had not been loved by himself, was left after his lover was gone.
   I gave certain and clear advice to him. “Before you love someone, love yourself first.” Though we are well-aware that everyone can’t love us, we often complain or feel sad, blaming others who don’t love us. However, we should know that at least one person is on our side as long as we love ourselves. Love yourself, and be on your own side. If you truly do, you will have strength not to falter from whoever turns their back on you, and only when you have confidence in yourself will you equally love your lover and yourself.
   Before you love someone else, love yourself first. Only people who love themselves are entitled to love others. And ‘I’ love myself today.
