[Reporter¡¯s View] The Attractions of Photos

When I entered high school, I received a digital camera from an uncle who is a photographer. I strove hard to master the camera by taking lots of pictures of a pencil and an eraser on a desk and plants in the yard. When I got used to the camera, I started to take pictures of my family and even took pictures of my friends. Now, I am a college student, working under my uncle as an assistant photographer, and photography has become more valuable in my daily life as it has added to my hobbies as well as pocket money. Even in daily life, I rarely let the camera out of my hands. I always carry my camera with me when I travel with my friends. One day, I found myself taking pictures while eating at a restaurant, drinking coffee at a cafe, and traveling.
I used to look more closely through the camera and took pictures of things that I couldn¡¯t normally experience. As such, the attraction of photography is the ability to view an object in detail. As the saying goes, ¡®It is beautiful to view carefully.¡¯, if you really look closely through the camera, you can see the unexpected. Electric wires are not usually recognized when looking at the sky, but they are clearly visible through a camera. Also, when I look closely at my face through the camera, I feel that it differs from my face that I see through the mirror every morning.
Another attraction of photography is the light. Usually, photography is called a picture drawn with light. Light is similar to the air all around us all the time, so we don¡¯t recognize it unless we focus on it. Photography can help us recognize how light changes over time. Once a camera is in our hands, we think about the type, direction, and intensity of light in order to control the image. I found an ability to notice the different kinds of light that are produced at different times. The light in the morning is like a softly falling waterfall, the light in the afternoon is like the blue ocean, and the light in the evening is the rice in a golden field in autumn.
Finally, I think the most attractive thing about photography is recording. When people travel, they say, ¡°All we have left is pictures.¡± Why would they say that? I think that photographs record the time, space, and memories of people in the scene. Despite the endless flow of time, photos taken 10 years ago still remain contemporary. Family photos, wedding photos, friendship photos, and many other kinds of pictures are the tools to remind us of our memories.
I never felt the attraction of photography before I got my hands on a camera. Taking pictures can be a hobby for some; it can be an act to capture memories that disappear. If for any reason you have a camera in your hands, I hope you can think a lot about taking pictures and enjoying the moment properly.
