[Desk Column] For a Life of No Regret

How satisfied are people who live busy lives? It is not easy to live a repetitive everyday life without any special moments. Then, how do some people live a life without regret? For me, regret means that I was capable of doing something better at the time, or I was capable of making better decisions but didn¡¯t. It¡¯s best for me to make my own decisions in every moment of my life and not to regret those decisions. However, I¡¯m not suggesting that the readers make hasty decisions. Readers should think about their own decisions calmly and make the best choice.
There is no easy way to do anything. Sometimes, things are hard. It¡¯s unhelpful to give up on a decision simply because of a temporary struggle. That¡¯s why choices must always be made with responsibility and patience. I think people should spend at least a year trying to evaluate things before starting to regret them. As a book has an introduction, a main story, and a conclusion, so does life. There are things both worthwhile but also regretful in happiness. People should spend enough time to experience all of those things. I think regret is a privilege only for those who do not give up. That¡¯s not to say that people should never live without regret. Instead of staying in the past with regret, people should use regret as a stepping stone to avoid future regret. That experience allows people to make better decisions and to make progress. A book named Talmud has a famous saying: ¡®Be more regretful about what you have not done, rather than regret what you have already done.¡¯ I think people should live a life where they try to do things that they haven¡¯t experienced yet.
To take my experience as an example, I entered the CBT as soon as I entered the university. Joining the CBT for the first time was, frankly, an impromptu decision. I just did it because I like to meet new people and write articles in English. My life at CBT can¡¯t be separated when talking about my college life. There were times when I was tired and when life as a reporter was unrewarding. Amidst those hard times, I once reconsidered entering the CBT. However, the work was my responsibility according to my choice, and sometimes there was a hard difficulty, but it was meaningful to me. If I had quit just because of temporary hardship, I would never be able to finish anything. After entering the CBT, I had a lot of time to think about my decision. The more I think about it, the more attached I am to CBT, and now I feel comfortable and familiar with CBT. Now, I feel it¡¯s the best decision I¡¯ve ever made.
I have had many regrets in my life. The dream I had in high school and the university I wanted to go attend never were achieved. When I arrived at college for the first time, I often had a lot of worries and regrets about my choices. My life was so filled with such worries that it was not pleasant, so I told my father my troubles. My father told me that he spent a lot of time regretting his choices when he was young. He said that he would respect all my options because he wanted to prevent me from having such regrets. The moment I heard that I was shocked. I was stuck in a mold that I had created myself,   and I was the only one who regretted my choices. Since then, I have had more confidence in everything I¡¯ve done. I have begun to think about what might happen rather than what happened, and I now try to live by doing what I want to do. My life has a new path. I¡¯m living a very satisfying life now.
I hope the readers who read this article will live a life without regrets. There are many things people can do and want to do. It is a waste of time to spend time regretting past choices for such a long time. I am planning to go on a trip abroad after graduation, and I will use that time to reflect on the time I spent at CBNU and think about how I should live in the future.
