The Reason Koreans Long for a Success of KSLV-1
Á¦ 117 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2010.05.31
The Influences of KSLV-1

'KSLV-1(Korea Space Launch Vehicle-1)', or the so-called Naro,  has far-reaching influences. KSLV-1, which is scheduled to be launched for the second time, has already been cheered by all Koreans. This launch is expected to increase South Korea's position in space technology. Above all, the prospective economic effects have caught many people's eyes.

According to Naro Space Center, if this launch succeeds, KSLV will bring in a maximum of 3 trillion won to Korea, where its public relations is valued at 895 million won. This would also increase exports by 13.5 million won. The related industry could earn 3.6 million won. Also, the ripple effect of technology is valued at 11,885 million won. The data which will be obtained from the satellite on KSLV-1 is likely to be used in a wide scope of areas such as weather forecasting, making maps, and confirmation of land adjustment. It will also provide help to the environmental research areas, especially in the fields of vegetation & soil and the surveillance studies related to the environmental destruction.

There are many other examples which indicate the possibility of the improvement of life through the space program such as the navigation systems and remote operations. The space industry is called 'the flower of recent science technology', as there are many by-products of space industry including CT(Computed Tomography), MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging), artificial joints and many others. According to the Naro Space Center, it provides not only economic benefits, but it also offers many other significant benefits. If this launch succeeds, Korea will become a country with space projectile technology. In other words, Korea could join the 'Space Club', which is a club of nations that succeeded in launching a satellite by its own efforts. This means that Korea would become a country with a relatively independent rocket technology. Thus, Korea would secure its indegenous capability of space developments. It would automatically help Korea reduce expenses for launching rockets abroad. Now, we have 9 satellites. These were launched using costly rockets from foreign countries which created some problems like outflow of enormous costs and direct exposure of production technology of Korean satellites. Lastly, Korea will gain entry into the market of satellite launching. Therefore, this launch will indicate the starting point of Korea to become an advanced country of space-technology.
