[Interview]Find Your Own Pleasure Sweeter than Chocolate
Á¦ 106 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2009.03.02

CBT had visited many graduates and listened to their helpful advice for our lives last semester. Greeting a new semester, CBT planned "Interview with the Specialist" to listen to the stories from the specialists. On this issue, we met Kim Seong-mi, the first chocolatier. She said, "My disciples can sample my cases. There is nobody who I can sample because I'm the first person in this field. However, I enjoy this situation since every visible thing which I see is what nobody saw. Let's listen to her sweet story like a chocolate. -Ed

- A person who knows the pleasure can live a more joyful life
She majored in Sociology and studied in Japan. However, she decided to be a chocolatier at the middle point in her life after she started a home. ¡°Other people said that I gave up a comfortable life. However, I thought that the direction of my life went wrong. Therefore, I was not pleasant or happy. I looked back on my memories when I was happy to find the way to be happy. Also, in the 90¡¯s, the mood that renewed our values was made because of the IMF. Owing to these causes, my passion in my heart was expressed."
When she works, she does what she can do well. She always chooses the work which makes her happy although the pay of work is low. ¡°Therefore, the more I work at what I can do well, the happier it makes me. Also, I have become accustomed to the pleasure earned by doing work which I like. I know the pleasure, and I persevere in my efforts always to be happy. People who know pleasure can live more joyful lives. Therefore, they will become happier than before. These are the reasons why I became a chocolatier and why I have continued it over 10 years. Therefore, I advise CBNU students to find what will make them happy.
-The most important thing is harmony
The name of her work room, Pas de deux, refers to a dance sequence for two dancers. Harmony is very important to dance with an other man and to make chocolate too. There are harmonies of a chocolatier and chocolate, a giver and a taker, and so on. ¡°80 percent of domestic chocolatiers are from ¡°Pas de deux.¡± When I saw my disciples put roots down in society, I felt my efforts bore fruit. I thought that I should practice for the future of my disciples. Therefore, I have to study hard to pave a future for them. This process is also harmony. Through this harmony named interaction, we grow together.
-Did you find pleasure? Then, improve your real ability
Everyone has various desires. They probably prioritize their list of desires. However, it is not right that money becomes the first desire for people in their twenties. "You don¡¯t have to stop prioritizing. Ability is needed to actualize your desires. If you don't have ability, nothing changes. Don't be impatient because you are young and time is plentiful. You should carefully obtain experience and enhance your ability. Moreover, you have to try to form a habit of doing happy work. Then, you can be a person who can¡¯t be shook by others
