Jeon Ji-hye, Introduced the Haunted House
Á¦ 181 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2018.10.15

CBNU has offered students various programs every year during the festival season. In this festival, a Total of the Federation of the Club prepared a haunted house. For this interview, let's meet hidden characters that give students fun and fear at the festival and listen to the stories in the process of preparing the haunted house. -Ed.

  1. Please introduce yourself briefly.

My name is Jeon Ji-hye, a managerial staff member for the haunted house.

  2. Why did you participate in the haunted house program?

This year, the Federation of Clubs decided to organize the haunted house to take advantage of the warmer weather during the festival. I am working as the public relations deputy director at the Federation of Clubs. Also, I was responsible for the program staff as I continued to participate in the planning of the haunted house during last summer vacation.

  3. What is different from last year¡¯s haunted house?

The tent of the haunted house was darkly decorated for last year¡¯s festival. However, we made an effort to create a more realistic haunted house by decorating the whole S7-2 building.

  4. Was there any episode while preparing the haunted house?

What I found difficult was to go home at dawn, because to rehearse for the haunted houses, it had to be dark. However, we felt a sense of accomplishment because the people who   experienced the haunted house reacted better than we expected, and we enjoyed every time they were surprised. When we put on ghost makeup, we invited experts who helped us. The ghost makeup was impressive, so we took many pictures.

  5. Can you briefly introduce the structure of the haunted house program to the readers who have not experienced it before?

The theme of the haunted house we organized this time was a cursed school club. The concept is to find the key and escape by solving the problems related to the theme of the haunted house. Those who participated in this program saw a video on a laptop and then received a map and lantern from the staff on the first floor. Each of the tasks was given one room at a time, and the escapees had to go through each of the numerous rooms to conduct missions to escape. However, escapees needed to keep their eyes on us until the end because they did not know when and where the ghosts were going to pop up.

  6. Are there any anecdotes about operating the haunted house?

One of the members who joined the program gave up and ran out of the haunted house because that program was too realistic. After seeing him run off, I was so proud that the building was well decorated. Not only that, the appearance of the building at night with the lights turned off made a scary atmosphere. The horrible atmosphere frightened me even though I was with the other staff members in the staff room. If I¡¯d been alone listening to the windows rattling in the wind, I¡¯d have cried.

  7. Are you interested in joining the haunted house next year again?

Of course, but I would like to be an escapee, not a staff member next time. I think I might be the best escapee among those who played ghost roles because I am startled even by the slightest little thing.

  8. What is necessary to make audiences feel fear?

When we set up the haunted house, we intentionally covered the window with black drawing paper to prevent light from coming into the haunted house. Then, we planned the opening time for the evening. When we first planned the haunted house, we thought about using music from horror movies, but it seemed less frightening. After minimizing the light entering the haunted house, I stood in the middle of the hallway and looked at the end of the hallway during rehearsal. Even though there was no one in the hallway, I had a strange feeling that someone was looking at me and following me. The image of that scene remained in my head longer than I expected. Horror movies require people¡¯s imagination. While preparing this program, we thought it would be nice to scare participants by recruiting haunted house staff members, but that seemed like just a temporary fear. Therefore, we thought that participants would feel more scared if they imagined the situation rather than just experiencing our stories. To do this, we just darkened the old building instead of decorating the haunted house too much.
