The bulletin boards which I have interest in are “Community,” where dissatisfactions are uploaded, and “CBNU News” and “Notice,” where various information about CBNU is uploaded. The bulletin board of the CBNU homepage has been involved in helping the communication between CBNU staff members. University staff members, students and the Students’ Association (SA) discuss about the problems of CBNU and upload the decisions on the homepage. Uploading the decisions of the SA and the university has solved the students’ curiosity. As the CBNU homepage changed, the role of the bulletin board was divided in detail, so a bulletin board about university life and another about the lectures were created. Although the bulletin board is specifically divided, just a few bulletin boards are used excessively.
The notice board, “Community,” is supposed to be full of the information about university life, but there are only advertisements about one-room apartments and selling goods. This makes some people angry and uncomfortable. There is a proper bulletin board for advertisements, and it is not difficult to find. However, the advertisements are found easier than the notices about university life. Therefore, some students have started to criticize the management of the homepage.
According to the criticism by some students, it is true that the homepage bulletin board was not successfully managed. However, before that, could you answer the question, “Did you use the bulletin board properly?” There might be students who cannot say “Yes.” After all, we made the present bulletin board.
Most of the students have their own mini homepage or blog. If the advertisements were uploaded excessively on your web space, how would you feel? At first, you would absolutely delete the advertisements once or twice. However, you would be angry if it was repeated and was hard to manage your homepage. It is natural that several managers of a homepage cannot control the hundreds of users. Except the fact that the manager is not you, the CBNU homepage is the same as your mini homepage.
The homepage is the face of CBNU on the Internet. Then, let’s ask a question to ourselves. Do we want to make our faces dirty?
