On may 18th, some media sources reported news that Seo Sang-heui, the professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine in Chungnam National University, made the first H1N1 vaccine in the world. Now, we get a chance for a counter-attack against the flu.
 Since my major is related to this topic, I have observed it from the beginning. After the outbreak of H1N1, health authorities in the world desperately endeavored to prevent the diffusion of the disease. However, the alert for the disease is only a temporary solution.
  The first thing that the Korean government must do is to make a future-oriented disinfection plan. All airports and harbors are already in complete biochemical protection. If a long-term plan doesn't exist, however, those alerts may be useless.  The government clarified that they don't have any plan for producing vaccines. One officer even said ironically that it‘s useless to refer to this discovery because we don't know if the vaccine was made for humans or animals. It is clear that we succeeded in extracting a vaccine strain. However, it is not a remedy yet. Since we can make the vaccine strain now, it needs to be promoted for its practical use at the governmental level. I'm doubtful about the government's future progress, because the vaccine made by the veterinarian, who has USA CDC(Centers for Disease Control) behind him, is not working for the Korean government.
  "Attack is the best defence." It is time to prevent and be aware of this disease, not the time to have dread about the flu. We must recognize that medical treatment and prevention are more important than just counting the death toll of this disease.
