[Main News] Knock! Then the Door Will Be Opened
Á¦ È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2008.11.04

The problem with CBNU¡¯s antiquated facilities has been troubling the students. It is true that the university has some responsibility in this matter. However, is every problem the responsibility of the university?
It is natural that students want to be educated in a good environment. However, most buildings at CBNU were built 20 years ago, and much money has been spent to preserve old facilities. Therefore, it is hard to accept complaints about university facilities. Student¡¯s demands are reflected through three ways. One way is through students¡¯ associations. College Student¡¯s Associations collect opinions of students and send those to the university. Then, the university restores and installs facilities by their request. This year, the university acceded to their 12 demands. A few of these demands are painting the outer wall of the College of Natural Science, re-upholstering chairs in the College of Human Ecology, changing fluorescent lamps in the College of Commerce and Business. The other ways are that students can get in touch with Department of Facilities Management or go to the university homepage and post a message at ¡®A Conversation with the President.¡¯ If you post a message, the department in charge of your message should answer and explain about that. However, there were under 10 proposals which concerned facilities during the last 4 months. In conclusion, students should change their passive attitude where they want the university to do everything into an active attitude where they express their opinions to the university for themselves.
To minimize the student¡¯s inconvenience, repair of the university is started during vacation. During this summer vacation, inferior bathrooms in the College of Engineering, the College of Education and so forth were improved. The person responsible for facilities said, ¡°While repairing bathrooms in the Students Union Building, I worried because I saw students who made bathrooms dirty although construction was going on. Also, she doubted how long restored facilities could be kept.¡±
Students should think about their attitude before complaining about old ramshackle facilities. The facilities of the university are ours. We should use the university facilities like they are ours.
