There were elections on November 26. As a result, “say 好,” was elected to the 20th General Women Students’ Association (GWSA), but the election of the General Students’ Association (GSA) was nulled.
In the election of GWSA, there was only the team “say 好.” Therefore, Jung Sun-hee (Department of Astronomy and Space Science, ‘07) became the president of the GWSA, and Im So-yeong (Department of Civil Engineering, ‘08) became the vice president of the GWSA. One of the GWSA’s public pledges was to make a small group for female students giving them a scholarship with a team project. Another pledge was to offer a group where female students could discuss their daily lives on campus. In CBNU, there are 5,607 female students who can participate in the election. Among them, 3,514 students participated, so 62.67 percent of the female students assented with the 20th GWSA.
Two teams ran for the GSA election. One was “GukGaDaePyo” and the other was “Piero’s First Love.” The candidate for the president of “GukGaDaePyo” was Jang Ho-suk (Major of Civil Systems Engineering, ‘04) and the vice president was Park Jong-bin (Department of Biology, ‘04). There were some interesting pledges that they made. Those were running a secondhand bookstore, or maybe buying textbooks bulk online, and lending bicycles. Kang Yong-hwan (Department of Civil Engineering, ‘03) and Hang Byung-hyun (Major in Agricultural Chemistry, ‘06), candidates for the president and the vice president of “Piero’s First Love” respectively, also ran for the GSA. Their public pledges were establishing a convenience store, making a sample shop and expanding the small scale exercise equipment.
There were some common public pledges. Those were making a saving unit system, revitalizing the school festival and solving the registration fee problem. You can take 21 units in a semester, but sometimes you miss 1 or 2 units. At that time, you can take those units in the next semester. That is the saving unit system. Concerning the registration fee, the “GukGaDaePyo” asserted that they will keep the increasing rate of the registration fee under 5 percent. The “Piero’s First Love” asserted that they will do the same as “GukGaDaePyo,” but they will increase scholarships if it is hard to be accepted to CBNU.
In the GSA election, 13,731 students could participate in the election, and 8,346 students participated. Turnout was 60.78 percent. The “GukGaDaePyo” received 3,925 votes, so they received 46.94 percent support. The “Piero’s First Love” received 3,986 votes, so they received 47.67 percent. It seemed that the “Piero’s First Love” became the 42th GSA, but this election became null. According to the election operation, election tolerance must be under 1 percent. If it us not under 1 percent, we must revote. In this election, there were 121 counting errors, so tolerance was 1.41 percent, which is why this election became null. In a week, we will revote. The election is our chance to show our opinions. In this election, the voting rate was 60.78 percent. In the revote, most students need to express their opinion.
