[Campus News] CBNU in a Defenseless State
Á¦ 115 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2010.04.20
The contract with Samsung S1 expired on February 28th, so CBNU's security system was changed to ADT Caps. As a result, Caps started the replacement of equipment in February and will provide security service to every CBNU building starting March 12th.
CBNU, However, will have an anxious time during the switch-over  from the old  company to the new one because security measures will be insufficient during the period of replacement. Although the contract with the existing company expired, the new company couldn't install the new equipment in time. This created a lapse in security and CBNU was in a defenseless state. The new company has been patrolling around the school but the reality is that although alarms have sounded because of trespassing, nobody has gone into action.
The school and the unmanned guard company were at cross-currents.  The CBNU Department of General Affairs said that ADT Caps installed the new alarms in time and service had been normalized by March 1st. They admit that Caps is in  a trial and error period but they are getting better gradually. However, the new security system, which planned normalization for March 1th, is still not working properly although ten days have passed. Even the old company's equipment has not been removed yet. In an interview the ADT company said they are late with installation because the former company didn't remove their machines in time and that they need more time for the construction as they can't work during school events. The company said that installation of their equipment will be finished on March 12th, except in the New Students Hall which is undergoing renovation. Also, about damages during the replacement, the school said that there were no stolen goods. In contrast, the company said that there were two burglaries in March.
Security is a sensitive issue concerning the safety of the school. So when  problems arise, the school must reveal the truth and correct the problems quickly instead of concealing the problems. The school, needs to correct the problems first, not try suppress the facts. This does not help to solve the problem and it can arouse suspicions.
If the school had been ready beforehand systematically and tried to solve the problem actively when the problems came up, the dizzying situation which created a lapse in security would not have appeared.
