[Campus News] Please, Fill My Empty Seat!
Á¦ 117 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2010.06.01

Have you seen the posters saying, 'Please, fill my empty seat!' that were on the message boards of the library and Hyeongseol Building and on doors of reading rooms. They were part of a new CBNU campaign. CBT will select a different campaign every month and give information about it. Through this section, CBT is going to carry on various campaigns and make efforts to lessen inconvenience in CBNU. That's why CBT is going to report on these campaigns.

This month's topic of the campaign is 'Please, fill my empty seat!' A lot of students go to the library, and the library is filled with people especially during examination periods. Students must line up for a long time to hold a seat. However, there are always many empty seat in the reading rooms because students only put their stuff in the seats and often leave the room.

Many other students become worried as they can't get a seat to study. CBT is persuading students to let others use their seats while they are gone.

When students leave their seats, they should put a memo on a desk saying when they will come back for the seat. In other words, they just write on a note or post-it saying, 'I'm having lunch, and I'll be back at 3:00.' or 'I'm having a class until 5:00.' In that way, another student can use the desk for that specific period of time.

This campaign will certainly be useful. If students want to study in their spare time, students can get a seat without waiting.

Since many students don't feel the need to write a memo, it is unusual to get a memo. However, whether students have an exam or not, every student wants to take the seat to read. Some students can't use the reading rooms because they have misplaced their student ID cards. Therefore, students can show solicitude by writing memos to lend their empty seats to other people.

After a janitor in the library heard the purpose of this campaign, he said all students should join this campaign. Also, he felt bad as a lot of people just put their bags in the reading room to keep their seats forever.

The reading rooms must become a useful facility for every student, and it is not just a place for bags. We can make big changes by just doing small things like writing a memo. It's amazing, isn't it? It might be cumbersome, but our small actions will create a big effect and better environment for study.
