The National Assembly Inspected CBNU
Á¦ 120 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2010.10.31

The National Assembly conducted inspections of the administrative works of Chung -buk University(CBNU) and Chungnam University(CNU).
On October 12, both CBNU and CNU were inspected simultaneously by the audit committee. Democratic Party(DP) lawmaker Byeon Jae-il attended as a chairman and eight National Assembly members were present at the inspection. The presidents of CBNU and CNU also attended with key university administrative officers. The parliamentary audit, which was held in CBNU, lasted for about two and a half hours, and the presidents answered difficult questions from the eight inspection commissioners.
At the inspection on meeting, lawmakers have raised questions regarding universities misuse on support fees. Lawmaker Kim, Choon-jin(DP) claimed that signing up for a school supporting association and payment of school support fees are not requirements, but universities refuse to admit students who don't pay the school support fees. However, Grand National Party(GNP) lawmaker Kwon, Young-jin presented different opinions saying that, "It is a governmental duty to pay personnel expenditures to the faculty of national universities. Since the government subsidies have been so low, the school support fees have inevitably been used for personnel expenditures for the school staff. Therefore, universities are not responsible for all the problems related to operating school support fees. I hope the national universities demand government for a new budget to solve the problem."
Lawmaker Kim, Yoo-jung(DP) raised a question on the volume of books which CBNU has. According to her analysis, the number of books per student at CBNU was the lowest of all national universities. To make matter worse, the budget for buying library resources wasn't supplemented this year at all. She added, "Try to expand the library resources for the students."
Meanwhile, lawmaker Joo, Kwang-deok(GNP) commented positively on the scholarship system. He said, "Chungbuk University is the only school in the nation where the person in charge guides low-income students by personal consultation, and if there are students who meet the criteria for the scholarship, the school notifies students individually."
