Chungbuk National University is the only university in the Chungcheong provinces to be chosen for the Advancement of College Education(ACE), which is conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. ACE is a kind of support program to advance the general education of the undergraduate studies and to train professional people. CBNU started this program on May 1st and will receive a total of 11.4 billion won for four years.

 CBNU has plans to manage the composition of curriculums to improve the level of the education of the undergraduate studies. Also, there are plans for the advancement of operating curriculums and the support system of education, and there is another plan for the allocation and consumption of cost. CBNU will reorganize the curriculums, change the system for teaching and learning, and manage the quality of the education.

 In the case of reorganizing the curriculums, the current structure will be changed into the Employment Type or the Career Type. The Employment Type is a course to obtain a job without going to graduate school, and the Career Type is a curriculum for students who want to enter graduate school.
 
 Participation in the program, which teaches the method of lecturing, will be reflected in the performance appraisal of professors and a promotion system. Furthermore, CBNU is progressing to extend the professors’ number of school days from the current 3 days to more than 4 days. Also, CBNU will raise the quality of education by the improvement of the lecture evaluation system and the management of professors’ theses. Those will improve the insufficient parts of the management system about teaching activities.

 Nam Soon-ran, who is a team leader in the Office of the Registrar, said, “CBNU will reorganize the general parts of the curriculums with ACE. University students have many worries about the preparation to find future jobs. Reflecting on the current situation, most of the reorganization is concerned with employment. I am expecting that many students get benefits from this program.”
