Students Feel Hope and Concern about the Sole GSA Candidate
Á¦ 129 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2011.11.28
Students Want Giant will be a Reliable GSA
The important pledges are the reorganization of the Tuition Deliberation Commission and withdrawal from the list of university restructuring
The campaign was started for the General Students Association(GSA) election on Nov. 16th. Only one group applied for the GSA election. The candidate¡®s group is called the Giant. Kim Jin-sung, a student of the Department of Safety Engineering 06¡¯, is a candidate for the GSA president, and Park Gun-hyung, a student of the School of Law 08', is a candidate for the vice-president.
Giant wants to create a reliable GSA to lead our university and students during a time when CBNU is encountering difficulties of the designation of university restructuring and the abolition of the Direct Election System.
The election pledges of this GSA's candidates were divided into five parts. The titles of the five parts are Tuition and Scholarship, the Festival of CBNU Students, Education and Employment, Welfare Policy and Better Communication with students. They promised 27 election pledges in total. The main pledges are the implementation of the open course evaluation, the reduction of print and duplication prices, the reorganization of the Tuition Deliberation Commission, the implementation of the Free Culture Day, the securing of transparency in scholarships, the introduction of the menstruation absence and the demand for withdrawal from the list of university  restructuring.
The most important election pledges of GSA's candidacy are the reorganization of the Tuition Deliberation Commission and the removal of the designation of CBNU to be restructured. The Tuition Deliberation Commission held last year organized three students and six staff members. The the personnel organization is unfair for the students. If the personnel organization is equitable, the number of students and staff members should be equal. Giant will reform the balance of personnel in the organization through an agreement with the CBNU Head Office. GSA's candidacy this year will take over the work of the Plus GSA at the earliest possible date because CBNU needs a strong reaction to the designation of university restructuring. Even though it is intertwined with many problems such as the abolition of the Direct Election System for president of CBNU, they will try to solve the problems throughout discussions with the Plus GSA.
Park Hae-won, a student of the Division of Computer Engineering 07¡¯, said, "I think the Giant is not campaigning hard enough because Giant is the sole candidate in the GSA election. Also, I don't understand some of their pledges. However, Giant will be the GSA in 2012. I hope they will try to solve many problems such as the abolition of the Direct Election System and the designation of the university restructuring."
Kim Gye-hyung, a student of in Food Science&Technology 11¡¯, said, "Unfortunately, there is only one candidate for GSA this year. If many candidates would participate, we could choose one who will work better for the school. I hope Giant will be a good GSA who represents the will of CBNU students."
Kim Jin-sung, a Giant candidate for the GSA president, said, "Many students think we lack competitiveness because Giant is the solo candidate. However, when everybody tended to stay in the background, we had courage and applied for this election. Whenever GSA elections were held in the past, the competition was overheated among the candidates and they would campaign simply for show. We consider it as more important to raise a turnout and lead the interest of students."
Kim Jin-sung and Park Gun-hyung, the Giant candidates, said, "Now, many students focus on only their graduation and employment and they think, 'If I graduate from this university, CBNU will have nothing to do with me'. We hope students will be interested in social issues about universities not only our university. Also, we really want students to talk to us without constraint if there are problems which students want to change or they feel inconvenient. I long for much attention from students during this GSA election."
