More and Better Student Welfare Facilities
Á¦ 144 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2013.11.04

Students hope more facilities to improve student welfare and learning performance. Student welfare facilities such as study rooms and student rest areas are not managed well because of negligence by the administration and students¡¯ lack of responsibility for the facilities. As a result, many students have felt much inconvenience. The facilities were made for students¡¯ convenience, but some of them are not repaired in time after being broken and continuously are neglected in that condition.
The student lounge is located in the No.2 Student Union Building. Various departments¡¯ students gather there for debating and doing homework together. However, the lounge gets messy because of left trash by students and worn-out chairs. Students don¡¯t turn off the lights when they leave the lounge at night. Also, the front part of the long table has been chipped and has not been repaired.
There are complaints about each college¡¯s student lounge areas. Jang Yu-ji(¡¯12, Dept. of Industrial Plant Science & Technology) said, ¡°There are some student rest areas in the College of Agriculture. However, most facilities were poorly managed and too old. I want those facilities to be improved.¡±
There is another viewpoint about the facilities. Oh Yeon-hui(¡¯12, Department of Digital Informatics and Convergence) said, ¡°Except for the small resting sites made by each college, it is difficult to find a quiet space to have a group meeting or space for debating. I think that there are few sites for students in proportion to the number of students in the university. Also, it is not just negligence by the university but also the responsibility of students to care for the facilities. Some students throw away garbage around the campus without conscience. I think students must have pride in their campus.¡±
On the topic of future plans for student welfare facilities, Lee Jong-hui(Office of Student Affairs) said, ¡°Comparing CBNU¡¯s student welfare facilities to other universities, Chungbuk National University(CBNU) really lacks them. Sometimes, club members require me to expand their space and improve their environment to practice. Except for them, common students hardly bother me about CBNU¡¯s facilities. I want to improve CBNU¡¯s student welfare facilities, but it is difficult because of tough financing. However, a seminar room for getting jobs, small meeting rooms and study rooms are going to open in the former Nonghyup space this year. Although they are not perfect solutions for solving the students¡¯ hunger of having more space, it will partially relieve their complaints.¡±
