Students¡¯ Responses to the Renovation of the Central Library
Á¦ 159 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2015.10.05

This year, many facilities are under construction on campus. Among them, the renovation of the Central Library was the most important construction for students. The reason is that each college is only used by its own students. In contrast, the Central Library is used by all CBNU students. Thus, the renovation of the Central Library has much more influence on students than any other construction. The Central Library was under construction from the middle of July to the end of August. During renovation, students could take restricted advantage of the Central Library. However, it reopened on September 1st with the start of lectures, so a CBNU reporter went there and interviewed students to listen to their responses about the renovation.
First of all, the lobby on the first floor was widened because the rental counter was moved to the third floor. Many students have positive views about it, but some students expressed a little inconvenience. Park Ji-won(¡¯14, Doctor of Astronomy and Space science) said, ¡°When the rental counter was on the first floor, I could choose a book more freely because, in the past, although I picked up a book from the second floor, I could go to the third floor without loan approval. However, after the rental counter was moved to the third floor, I must receive an approval on each floor to take a book to the other floors.¡± Gong Bo-sol (¡¯14, Dept. of Information Statistics) said, ¡°I studied a lot on the first floor because the previous rental counter had a wall. It divided the first floor into two parts, so the first floor was silent. After the wall was removed, the first floor became noisier than before.¡± However, most students said, ¡°I like that the first floor was renovated.¡± It is attributed to additional lounges, a supplement of outlets and improved computers.
Also, the study rooms for a single person, ¡®Carrels¡¯, were newly built on the second floor. Han Ju-won(¡¯11, Dept.of International Business) said, ¡°Carrels make it possible to study alone and quietly. Moreover, a reservation was possible on the homepage. However, it suddenly malfunctioned, so I felt inconvenience.¡±
After the renovation was completed, the Central Library looks cleaner than before, and so many students have positive responses about it. An anonymous student said, ¡°It is good that the first floor looks more spacious and clean. Moreover, the renovated restrooms make the Central Library look cleaner overall.¡±
Most of the students are positive about the renovated Central Library, but some of them expressed inconvenience. The renovation was conducted for the benefit of all the students. Therefore, CBNU shouldn¡¯t disregard minority opinions to make the Central Library better.
