[Campus People] The Two Presidents of the 9th ¡®Hae-ul¡¯

The ¡®Hae-ul¡¯, which is a group of CBNU ambassadors, was organized in 2009. Until now, they have tried to promote CBNU. In April, the 9th Hae-ul, called the ¡®Friend Hae-ul¡¯, was launched to start 2017. The CBT reporters met the male president Ha Heon-min(¡¯12, Dept. of Wood and Paper Science) and the female president Choi Seok-hee(¡¯15, Dept. of Russian Language and Culture) to hear more about the 9th Hae-ul.

Would you please introduce Hae-ul to CBNU students?
Ha Heon-min(Ha): Hae-ul was organized to promote the pride of CBNU not only to CBNU students but also to the public, and we have tried to forge a good image of CBNU both at CBNU and externally. Hae-ul means bright as the sun and clear and fresh as morning dew.

What kind of activities does Hae-ul usually do?
Ha: The activities of Hae-ul are largely divided into online and off-line activities. The online activities mainly consist of SNS activities. We have a plan to run the official CBNU websites through Facebook, Instagram, and a blog this time. Regarding the off-line activities, we take pictures which are then uploaded on the official CBNU website or posted on the school PR brochures. Furthermore, when foreign students visit our university, we show them around our campus and introduce CBNU to them.
Choi Seok-hee(Choi): The members of Hae-ul all participate in the off-line activities. However, the tasks that the two presidents manage are different: the male president is in charge of the administrative work, and the female president mainly takes the financial affairs. The other members are separated into 3 teams. Each team does different online activities.

Compared to the last Hae-ul, what is different about the 9th Hae-ul?
Choi: Until last year, Hae-ul had a Department of Admissions for promoting CBNU, so we used to visit high schools in person to promote CBNU. In addition, we had a Department of PR for creating and managing the official website, blog, and SNS of CBNU. However, from this year, the Department of Admissions was transferred from Hae-ul to another department, and now Hae-ul has only the Department of PR. Moreover, last year, ¡®Chungvely¡¯, which is the name of the official CBNU blog, was managed by another department, but from this year, we are going to manage the blog too.

Many students tend to think that the criterion for selecting the members of Hae-ul is just appearance. Are there any other criteria?
Ha: There is no official criterion for the selection. However, almost every student who was selected as a member of Hae-ul gave a bright impression. The first impression is the most important thing because Hae-ul represents CBNU. Therefore, making a good impression by revealing your clean and pure personality in the interview will have a positive impact on the result of the selection.

We heard the 4th Hae-ul implemented a uniform for the first time in 2012. Why did Hae-ul make the uniform? Is there any significance of the uniform?
Ha: Hae-ul chose a uniform because we wanted to have our own neat appearance as the representatives of CBNU. Our uniform feels neat and looks just like a flight attendant¡¯s.
Choi: There is no logo to symbolize Hae-ul yet. However, we decided to use maroon, which is the representative color of CBNU, for the tie of our uniform to show that we are CBNU ambassadors.

Do you have something to say to CBNU students?
Ha: The 9th Hae-ul has just started, so we are still planning to do many interesting events. We hope many students are interested in the official CBNU Instagram, Facebook, and blog. Although we are the members of Hae-ul, we are students of CBNU just like you. I will keep that fact deep in my heart and work with a humble attitude.
Choi: We just promote CBNU on behalf of CBNU students. The members of Hae-ul are also students like you, so please give us a lot of encouragement and support!
