The 2017 Gaesin Festival
Á¦ 175 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2017.11.06

Last October, from the 11th to the 12th, the 2017 Gaesin Festival was held. This year, the student council was especially absent, so the Emergency Planning Committee and Festival Arrangement Committee initiated the Emergency Operations, which means they would rescue all CBNU students who were tired from daily life. The food booths and activity booths were run by each department, clubs, and some organizations. A treasure-hunt game, an outdoor arcade, an air slide and a haunted house were some of the interesting activities. Moreover, the singing festival, photo zone, and performances by singers amused CBNU students.
According to a survey, which was given to 106 students, the operation of the festival was similar to last year¡¯s festival, but the festival was not satisfying because the festival¡¯s promotion was lacking, and though there were more food booths, the number of activity booths decreased. Moreover, some students were inconvenienced because of the festival duration, which was shorter than previous festivals, and the monotonous festival organization. However, students could experience various contents because the total number of booths increased.
28% of those questioned said the food booths and activity booths were the most disappointing programs in the festival. The performances by the singers (21%) and the air slide (16%) followed. In the food booths and activity booths, students felt disappointment with the high cost and lack of variety. In addition, there was a disappointment in the operating hours of the booths. Lee Si-yeon(¡¯17, Dept. of Psychology), who was involved in booth team 2, said, ¡°The operating hours were delayed an hour because it was raining on the first morning. On the second day, the festival started on time, but administrators of the booths were confused about the running time, so it started late. Because of these reasons, the operating hours became shorter. Also, in the evening of the second day, the running time of the booths became shorter because chairs had to be moved from the booths to the outdoor stage. I think those were the reasons for the students¡¯ disappointment.¡± Moreover, there were some opinions that crowd management was insufficient during the performances of the singers. The festival overlapped with a CJB Foundation Event, so students couldn¡¯t enjoy the event because of too many visitors. Furthermore, etiquette was not kept, so standing on chairs and littering were problems.
As for the most satisfying program, 35% of the students voted for the food booths and activity booths as the best. The guest performances (33%), the Gaesin Song Festival (8%) and Find the King of Kings of the Colleges (8%) followed. Most people selected food booths as the most satisfying program, but 28% said they were the most disappoint program. Generally, high participation rates and proper location were the reasons for popularity. Student Lee Si-yeon said, ¡°While preparing for the festival, we agonized about how to raise the participation rate and the satisfaction from the perspective of the students. We thought that students are usually in their colleges, so we considered accessibility in relation to the location of the colleges. Also, we found the proper place for each program and prepared countermeasures after taking different variables into account. For example, the break zone and the photo zone were installed in familiar places to students to raise student participation. On the other hand, the air slide occupied much space, so we selected the lawn near the front gate. However, because of the rain, the location of the air slide was changed to a small playground, and this was one of the countermeasures that we used. We also tried to raise the rate of participation by using 10 different forms of promotions such as posters, webzines and banners.¡±
The festival this year came to an end successfully, and many students are expecting the next student council to plan the next festival using this festival as a steppingstone. Kwon Min-ju(¡¯17, School of Business) said, ¡°I hope there will be more booths that give us a variety of experiences. This festival lacked variety. Also, the events, such as the air slide and the treasure-hunt game, needed to be promoted more. In the next festival, more organization will be needed to help many people enjoy the performance of the singers.¡±
