CBT Provides Tips for Students for the Upcoming Semester
Á¦ 177 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2018.03.05

March is the month of graduation and orientation. Freshmen everywhere on campus are often seen struggling to find classrooms. They can find that school buildings are numbered according to their positions. Also, the Gaesin Culture Center has a bookstore, bakery, and other facilities that sell daily necessities, and the students know that CBNU strives to offer what students need for their welfare. However, students do not just come to college and take classes. It is true that students are more interested in student activities because they want to enjoy various things that they couldn¡¯t experience when they were in high school. However, there is a limit to how much information freshmen can get. Ju Se-rin(18, Dept. Biology), who entered this year said, ¡°Although a club¡¯s brief description is on the school¡¯s homepage, it is difficult to understand how I can participate. Also, the schedule of school events is shown, but it is not explained, so it is hard to find details. I¡¯m sorry that I haven¡¯t heard an exact explanation yet from the student council.¡±
Thus, CBT decided to introduce some helpful tips for the new students. If students aren¡¯t getting the benefits that only university students can acquire, they should read this article and then reap the benefits.
First, in spring, students may have had the opportunity to imagine or see students clustered around the lawn enjoying drinking. Of course, it is good to try drinking alcohol when students become an adult to enjoy their own free adult life. Although CBNU has a beautiful campus to do those things, they have banned alcohol on campus for several years now.
Secondly, security phones were installed on the campus. Frequently seen on campus, the phones enable users to report a call with a single button in case they witness a crime. Plus, until recently, the campus of CBNU was very dark at night. The students who studied at libraries sometimes felt fear as they went home. Therefore, the school installed streetlights on the way from the main gate to the library every three steps during this past winter vacation. The Installation¡¯s Facility Department said, ¡°There were crossing areas around the campus where there were no streetlights, leading to possible accidents for pedestrians. To address the risk of accidents, new lights were installed and faulty streetlights are being repaired. We are also replacing asbestos, designated as a cancer-hazardous material, for the next 10 years, under the direction of the Ministry of Education. Therefore, asbestos in the Business, Engineering, and Social Colleges was replaced during the winter vacation. We will continue to try to identify and check problems that may be inconvenient for CBNU in the future, and we will make CBNU a place that everyone wants to visit.¡± When a reporter of CBT saw these streetlights at night, they were so bright that he could see far away at night, and if students are in danger or witness a crime, they should use the phones immediately. Also, when students go home late at night, they should use the better lit paths.
Finally, the implementation of the new student council¡¯s pledges may be of interest to all students. In the past year, an election was held for a new student council, and the election team named ¡®Gong-Gam¡¯ was elected. They are expected to lead the 2018 CBNU Student Union, headed by Kim Jong-seo (Dept. of Economics) and Park Je-se (Dept. of Forestry), who is also the new president of the Association of Students. Their pledges are to promote the notification of individual grades so that students can make up for their deficiencies in the grading process in more detail and help manage their grades, to reflect direct voting rights for students, to pay more attention to the departments, to promote the revival of school slogans and mascots, which will appeal to freshmen, and to provide students with an opportunity to create their own image. CBT hopes that the new students pay a lot of attention to whether or not such pledges will be carried out, and it will be interesting to see the new student council fulfill them. They will continue to perform their roles for one year from March of this year to February of 2019.
There is more information about our school, and students can find it at CBNU¡¯s website. CBT hopes students get used to their new circumstances with the aforementioned tips. Good luck!
