Checking Out Gonggam's Pledges

Gonggam, the current student council, began their work in February, 2018. Gonggam aimed to fulfill a total of 56 pledges. Only one semester remains before time will run out. Let¡¯s check the status of their pledges and implementation plan.
The pledges were classified into 3 categories: Rights, Communication, and Cultural affairs. Rights relate to students¡¯ rights. For example, the direct election of the university president guarantees students¡¯ rights by giving students the right to vote. Communication such as a debate for students relates to the student council reflecting students¡¯ opinions. Cultural affairs relates to various campus events such as the Gonggam Festival, the outdoor film festival. In June, they announced that 20 pledges were completed, 27 pledges are in progress, and 9 pledges are unfulfilled. Reforming certain class curriculums, improvement of lecture evaluations and general installation of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are a few of the unfulfilled pledges. Attention will be paid to how the student council will proceed with unfulfilled pledges during the remaining semester.
Lee Ho-gun (¡¯15, Dept. of Plant Medicine) said, ¡°I like Gonggam for implementing their pledges that were feasible. Also, I think holding a formal English test (TOEIC) at CBNU is very helpful for students. I didn¡¯t feel the previous student council gave us much help. However, I feel the current student council has given us much support and tried to carry out its pledges.¡± Yoon Ji-su (¡¯18, School of Information and Communication Engineering) said, ¡°Although I am a freshman, I noticed that they have tried to fulfill their pledges. As soon as I entered CBNU, I received much help from the guidebook for freshmen. The Gonggam Festival and the installation of Shinhan ATMs are my favorite completed pledges. My superiors, who have experienced previous student councils, said that the existing student council is doing well, and I agree with them.¡±
As for the unfulfilled pledges, Kim Jong-seo (President of Student Council) said, ¡°There are some pledges in progress, and others have not been done. Those pledges are long-term pledges, and school policy is not easy to change in the short term. A meeting for reforming certain class curriculums will be held at the end of September. At the meeting, the opinions of the students will be actively reflected. Improvement of the lecture evaluation will progress with the help of The School Affairs Support Team. General installation of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) will progress during the second semester because of a previous budgetary deficit.¡± He also said Gonggam is planning to create a different CBNU festival, which reveals his strong ambitions. He asked for the support of CBNU students concerning the festivals. The School Festival will be held in the second semester. It is time for them to fulfill their promises, and the students should send support and encourage them.
