[Campus People] Yoo Ae-hyeong Introduced the Daycare Center
Á¦ 186 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2019.06.03

Last Apr. 29, the CBNU Workplace Daycare Center opened, and it is operating independently of the daycare center affiliated with the College of Human Ecology. CBT met Yoo Ae-hyeong, who is the director of the CBNU Workplace Daycare Center, and asked her to provide information to parents who don¡¯t know about the center.

  1. Please inform us about the daycare center.
Our daycare center was established to create a work culture that allows parents to share the burden of childcare by creating an environment that is compatible with their work and their family. A motto that I made myself for the center is ¡°a dreaming child is like a fresh flower and a shining star.¡± The center¡¯s purposes are for the advancement and happiness of infants by offering a safe nurturing environment, by satisfying the fundamental desires of infants and by providing the standard education of the state. We aim to provide a happy daycare center environment for all children, parents, and teachers, and the program is based on trust by educating through play and experience and by respecting the developmental potential as well as the individual talents and interests of the infants.

  2. Please let us know the location of the facility.
Our daycare center is between the law school (N18) and the daycare center affiliated with the College of Human Ecology (N20-2). The entire scale is 589§³, and it consists of two stories, one aboveground level and one underground level. There are four childcare rooms. On the first floor of the building, there is a library, a nursing room, a nursery room, a teaching parlor, and a kitchen, and on the second floor, there is a small auditorium. The daycare center has an outdoor playground, which is child-safe and even contains heating and air-conditioning systems.

  3. How is the daycare center operated?
Currently, our daycare center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the classes end at 4:00 p.m. After 4 o¡¯clock, we teach the children through different programs. Also, we¡¯re asking parents to cooperate so that the children can remain in the center until 4:00 p.m. This is because children develop friendships while being here. The nursery program consists of classes for infants, classes for older children, and the Hanul Program of Moamom. The infant classes are designed for babies aged from 1 to 2 years, and it assists in developing the five senses and athleticism while also improving autonomy and positive self-awareness. The children¡¯s classes are for kids from 3 to 5 years of age. They consist of two programs. The first program helps them improve everyday skills and expressiveness, and the second program supports social development. The Hanul Program of Moamom is made up of a variety of activities. For example, children can read picture books, take walks, observe nature, and play on the playground. We plan to visit local organizations and art exhibitions, and the children can also experience events like the Jikji Festival and traffic safety education.

  4. What are the advantages of being a day care center within a university?
Since we are a workplace daycare center, the resources for operating are different from other centers. We receive support from CBNU when the building was built, and we also get financial aid from the Moamom Child Care Foundation. Therefore, our daycare center is very well financed, and the quality of education is excellent because the foundation manages it. Our organization maintains the proper number of teachers to manage the children, and the hiring process is very complicated and strict. In particular, we prioritize hiring teachers who have at least two to three years of experience. Currently, there are three teachers in our daycare center not including me.

  5. Do you have anything to say to children¡¯s parents or the public?
Our daycare center doesn¡¯t have many children yet because this place opened in May; other daycare centers start in March generally, so most kids were already enrolled in other centers and it isn¡¯t easy for kids to adapt to new places. We are teaching approximately ten students currently. Therefore, student recruitment is ongoing, and even if it is somewhat completed, we plan to recruit regularly. Please, pay close attention because we are planning to recruit new students this fall. As I said earlier, we are confident that our daycare center is superior to other facilities in regards to financial resources and management. We can take care of our students systematically, and the facilities are clean because CBNU manages the facility. I hope many children will join our excellent teachers at our daycare center.
