At the end of the semester, many students prepare for vacation. They might work a part-time job, begin an internship, take a rest at home, or go on a trip. To accomplish these activities, health is essential. There are many students who do physical training in sports facilities. However, most of the students cannot afford to pay for high-quality sports facilities. They might have to consider the price, size, and many other factors. To lessen these worries and to help students receive reasonable health care, the CBT reporters decided to introduce a sports facility in CBNU.
The CBNU Fitness Center is the official name of the sports facility in CBNU. It is located in the NH building, which is an amenity that contains the NongHyup Bank, seminar rooms, and a fitness center. The sports facility is located on the 3rd and 4th floors. Students can exercise in this center at a low price. The average cost of sports facilities is between 150,000 won and 210,000 won per three months. On the other hand, the CBNU Fitness Center¡¯s price is 71,000 won for students, 85,000 won for teaching staff and 98,000 won for outsiders. Even outsiders can use this facility at a reasonable price. Moreover, the rental expense of lockers and sportswear are cheaper than external facilities. The normal rental price of sportswear is 10,000 won a month, but in the center, people can rent sportswear for 5,000 won. Also, people can borrow lockers at the same price as the sportswear, but in other facilities, people pay between 10,000 won and 15,000 won to rent a locker.
Moreover, users who are bored exercising alone or who aren¡¯t good at using the equipment can sign up for many group exercise programs. They can take a class for 70,000 won a month, which is reasonable compared to other facilities where they charge between 130,000 won and 200,000 won a month.
Group exercise programs include a rotation exercise program, yoga, and pilates. The rotation exercise program consists of one instructor and sixteen students. The class is furnished with eight air boards and eight exercise machines, and since the maximum number of students allowed per class is sixteen, the course accepts the first sixteen students who sign up for the class. In the class, eight students use air boards for aerobic exercise, and the other eight students use exercise machines. Then, they switch and exercise again. The maximum number of students for the yoga and pilates classes are twenty-five. Each class is instructed by a teacher who is an expert in each field. The classes use the GX room on the third floor.
The third floor is for free weights, and it is furnished with free weights like barbells and dumbbells. The fourth floor is for aerobic activities and machine exercises, and it is furnished with thirty treadmills and cycles for aerobic exercise and twenty-five muscle-building machines. Using the muscle-building machines, weightlifters can bench press for the upper part of the body or use the leg press, the power rack, or Smith machine for the lower part.
Yang Won-jae (Dept. of Earth Science Education 16¡¯), who exercises at the CBNU Fitness Center said, ¡°Cheap! They have lots of equipment and great machines. Pilates and yoga classes are also affordable and useful. The only disappointing thing is the lack of personal lockers.¡± Lim Yong-suk, the president of the Center for Physical Education Promotion, which oversees the fitness center, said, ¡°We expected the high demand for sporting activities from students, teaching staffs and the residents of the local communities. We will continue to improve CBNU¡¯s fitness facilities, which include the fitness center, the sports complex, the futsal stadium, and the tennis courts. We also want to offer better service to students, teaching staffs, and residents for their health and welfare. We perform as your sponsor so that you can enjoy your exercise anytime, anywhere.¡±
