Shall We Check Out Synergy¡¯s Pledges Together?
Á¦ 190 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2019.12.02

Synergy, the current Student Council, began their work in March 2019. CBNU students worried about Synergy because Synergy was elected in a second election after being defeated. However, Synergy has silently fulfilled their pledges for the welfare and convenience of CBNU students. Many students even felt sorry for them at the end of the Student Council¡¯s term, and students lavished praise on Synergy¡¯s work. Their term will expire soon. Let¡¯s check on the status of their pledges and their implementation plan.
Synergy classified seventy-nine pledges into eight sections and carried out the pledges. The eight sections consisted of Education, Rights, Dwelling, Welfare, Communication, Culture, Facilities, and Alliance. Among the 79 pledges, 44 were completed, 28 are in progress, and 7 are unfulfilled. Their completed pledges include taking a TOEIC exam at CBNU and maintaining it, holding a night market and e-sport events, marking the number of students who chose subjects during the preliminary enrollment period, introducing the bus route through CBNU, and extending the time of the traffic light in front of the Law School. Lim Se-eun (¡¯15, Dept. of Applied Biotechnology) said, ¡°Although seniors can register for courses first, I was unable to enroll for my major subjects because of fierce competition. I would like to know the number of people who were interested in those subjects before course registration. Just in time, Synergy introduced marking the number of students who chose subjects during the preliminary enrollment period, so I was able to avoid confusion during course registration. Thanks to Synergy, I was able to make a timetable successfully.¡±
Their ongoing pledges include adding application courses and functions, gradually keeping the second library open 24 hours a day, improving the quality of the cafeteria, enrichment of lecture evaluations and holding Synergy¡¯s Olympics. Sung Ho-young (¡¯18, Dept. of Engineering Chemistry) said, ¡°I often use the second library because it has better facilities and environment than the old library. However, I was too sad that the library was only open until 6 p.m. Now, I am satisfied that the opening time of the new library has been extended to 10 o¡¯clock. However, I expect many students to use the second library during the exam week. I hope it will be open 24 hours a day as soon as possible.¡± Synergy commented, ¡°It is difficult to keep the second library open 24 hours a day due to the problem of security manpower. However, the library will be open until midnight with additional Synergy staff and existing security staff.¡± Synergy also commented about adding application courses and functions. ¡°We decided to solve the application problem. We solved the iPhone compatibility problem. Also, we recently heard that the Galaxy smartphone doesn¡¯t connect to the application well. We asked the school about solving this problem, and we are waiting for an answer. For the web browser, it was developed based on the use of a PC, not a mobile. Also, continuous updates can make mobile compatibility difficult. Thus, the only solution is to improve the application. We expect that the problem will be solved quickly after receiving positive responses from the Computer & Information Center. Lee So-yeon (¡¯18, Dept. of Chemical Engineering) said, ¡°As an iPhone user, it was always inconvenient to connect to the application. However, it recently improved.
Moreover, the night market and festival were very interesting. Thus, I am looking forward to Synergy¡¯s Olympics, and hope it will be held as soon as possible.¡± Their unfulfilled pledges include improving educational environment gradually, publishing details of laboratory fees, institutionalizing the published details about grades and repairing the back street around the west gate. Synergy commented about improving the educational environment gradually. ¡°The school officer told us that they couldn¡¯t help us because each department was allocated a budget to maintain the facilities each year.¡± Synergy commented about institutionalizing to publish details about the grades. ¡°We had a meeting with the chairman of the faculty. However, he replied that publishing the details of grades is difficult practically. He is concerned that there will be a backlash from professors and that there might be an infringement on teachers¡¯ rights if it is institutionalized.¡± Synergy also commented about repairing the back street around the west gate. ¡°We asked the City Hall about it. However, they replied, ¡®It is impossible to repair the back road because the purpose of the back street was originally a university facility rather than a road built for passage.¡¯ Thus, we were unable to fulfill the pledges, unfortunately.¡±
CBT has looked into the status of pledges and the implemented plans. The implementation rate is 55.7%. The implementation rate will increase in the future as there are pledges that are progressing or are scheduled to be fulfilled. Also, Synergy posted the status of their pledges on their website in detail. If readers have additional questions about their pledges, CBT recommends that they visit Synergy¡¯s website. Their remaining term will end in about one month. It is time for them to achieve their promises, so students should send support and encouragement to them.
