In the movie ¡®Kingsman: The Secret Service¡¯, famous for the line, ¡°Manners maketh man,¡± a bulletproof umbrella, a lighter bomb and shoes with knives appear as agents¡¯ equipment. Beyond the spectacular action and thrilling storylines, the equipment combined with high technologies is also an attractive point in spy movies. Among the many spy movies, ¡®Mission Impossible¡¯ showed lots of equipment combined with high technologies.
In the ¡®Mission Impossible¡¯ series, iris recognition is the most frequent technology. Agents open vaults by using iris recognition, and agents¡¯ sunglasses show information or maps work after checking agents¡¯ identities by iris. Moreover, a contact lens camera that can search for certain people was shown in the movie, and a disguising mask is made within only 10 seconds by 3D printer. Also, there is no need to open a car by key. By touching the car window with a hand, the car recognizes its owner and opens the door.
¡®MissionImpossible¡¯ shows diverse high technologies in the series, but the most attractive one is security systems. There are systems that can recognize fine details, such as facial spasms, and that can check the identities of people by their strides or walking styles.
These IT technologies are becoming reality. The walking style analyzing device, which people said was the most surprising technology in the movie, ¡®Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation¡¯, has already been in use by the FBI to find criminals since last year. IT companies and financial corporations are also working hard to develop technologies that can check identities using biometrics. In the case of a finger scan, it has already been adapted in smartphones, and soon it will be used in mobile payments. Shinhan Bank is developing a vein authentication system, which recognizes identities by checking the shapes of people¡¯s veins, which are all different. Moreover, IBK is planning to start an iris recognition system this year. Similarly, high technologies from movies are coming and will become our reality.
