You Are still Too Young to Give up the Attempt
Á¦ 134 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2012.08.31
I participated in a club of the Creative Campus that creates jobs for the elderly during summer vacation. I wandered around Sugok-dong to ask opinions of seniors about the project. First at all, I asked whether they would attend this project, and I was greeted with a mixed reaction. They are divided into two groups. One group thinks they are ready to do anything, and the others think they cannot do anything.
I met an old woman over the age of 70, who looks after plants in a senior club, during the survey. She looked healthy in spite of her old age, and she positively reacted to the project. On the other hand, most seniors refused to participate in the project on the reasons that they are sick and too old.
I said I would give them double work, but they refused to participate in the project. I couldn't understand their reaction. If the work was more than old people could bear, they would stop working. However, they refused to participate in the project without trying to challenge themselves. I thought they were so foolish at first. Second thought is that there was no difference between most young people and seniors, including me.
We think, ¡®Why do you not apply to large companies?¡¯ or ¡®Why do you give up on challenging tasks?¡¯ However, many people do not challenge themselves with what they want to do because they think they lack more personal abilities than others.
Students have both youth and health that seniors lost. If you value your youth, you don't give up so easily. After graduating university, Daniel Seddiqui, who is the author of ¡®50 Jobs in 50 States¡¯, failed his interview over 40 times. Because of repeated failure in finding his job, his pride was hurt. After he experienced this, he thought he needed something new for himself. He made a plan about experiencing 50 jobs in 50 states of the United States for a year and attempted the plan. He had been refused over 5,000 on jobs during the trip. However, he believed the more he was refused, the more he was drawing nearer to acceptance. Many young people have been rejected by many companies they applied for, and they are down in the depth of despair. Young people should have a challenging spirit through the rough times. As Daniel Seddiqui said, ¡°We experience a few failures, and then we may be approaching success.¡±
