The 2010 Osong International Bio-Symposium was held in CBNU. The ninth annual event was held in the Gaesin Cultural Center on November 5th and 6th. Many scholars delivered lectures, and diverse events were conducted.
 
The Cheongju University chapter of the Korean University Workers' Union called off the general strike on February 17th which had started on December 28th. The union said that they called off the strike to stabilize the university before beginning the spring semester. They went back to work last February 18th.
 
Nowadays, people can easily see public service announcemnet on the theme of multi-cultural families. This phenomenon shows that multi-cultural families are an important issue in Korea. To make a better society for them, it is necessary for all of us to understand their lives. CBT visited a field day event which was held by the Multi Cultural Family Center to listen to their stories. While there, we met and talked with a staff member of the center and also members of multi-cultural families.
 
[Review of the Performance] The performance "Very Busy" satirically speaks of modern society by describing the hard situation of the 80's. A family in need appears. The strange story of each member is shown respectively. The father is a sanitation worker, and Dongchil is his wacky son-in-law. They live in a poor house and wear ragged clothes, but they don't lose their hope.
 
Students of Chungbuk National University can freely use wireless Internet thanks to many installations of Access Point (AP). With the appearance of wireless electronic media such as smart phones and netbooks, the use of wireless Internet rapidly increased. In the past, the usable areas of wireless Internet were rare and the charges were expensive. However, with the spread of the wi-fi zone, every student who has wireless electronic media can use the Internet at no cost.
 
Many countries have accepted immigrants of various races in this globalization era. Recently, Korea is facing the same situation and is going through a period of transition to a multi-racial country. Some developed countries, which already experienced this transition period, have created suitable policies for the integration of immigrants.
 
It is getting ambiguous to say that Korea is a racially homogeneous nation as family members have been diversified. Currently, people can easily find foreign-born women and their children. According to the Korea National Statistical Office, the population of foreign spouses, which immigrated to Korea for getting married to Koreans, exceeded 130,000 as of the spring of 2010. It is five times more than that of 10 years ago.
 
The Young Leaders Club(YLC), the nation¡¯s largest economic club, was organized to discuss and study about economic systems with college students. Yoon Ki-woong(Kookmin University,¡¯06) is the vice president of the YLC and has worked as a YLC member for 2 years. He advised that students should work outside the universities.
 
Last February, after the members of ¡°Muhandojeon¡± challenged F1, many people were interested in F1. The members had to go to Malaysia to film the program since there was no F1 circuit in Korea at that time. Now, you can see F1 in Korea. The F1 circuit finally was built in Yeongam, and the F1 Grand Prix was already held last month. CBT visited Yeongam to see the Korea International Circuit and other spectacles. -Ed
