“The First English Night” was held successfully in the 2nd floor seminar room of Gaeshin Cultural Center on October 29.
This event was held under the sponsorship of CBT and the management of the Chungbuk University Newspaper to improve student’s interest in English and to revitalize the English cultural events.
Lots of participatants communicated with the audience in English through various themes at English Night. Ten teams participated in the event with plays, a poem recital, speeches, and pop-songs, and they showed their abilities. Also, the participation of foreigners caught eyes in the event.
Wairok from India sang pop-songs with his friends in the event and said, “There are few chances to communicate with others by other languages than Korean, so I was glad to understand the contents easily due to using English. I spent a good time with my friends.”
‘English Night’ is the first English cultural event at CBNU. However, because this event was the first, some insufficiencies could be found. Some of the audience pointed out that the event didn’t induce participation  from the audience, so CBT will have to improve it next time.
Many students showed their profound interest in English in the event. If more students have interest in English and take part in the event actively, everyone can take a big step to be close to English on English Night.
