Green Hofs Can Be Fun, but Can Be Inconvenient
Á¦ 133 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2012.05.26

The surroundings of the Solmot pond are crowded with people who enjoy Green Hofs because the weather has became warmer. Some university students say that Green Hofs are an exciting aspect of university life. However, Green Hofs are becoming a serious problem because they have damaged students who strive to concentrate on their studies. A notable example is Green Hofs held during examinations. Although students who hadn't finished exams were studying hard for their last midterm examinations, many students caused troubles because they made much noise by holding Green Hofs. The problems of Green Hofs become more serious, for example, by the noise of people who hold Green Hofs, the rubbish that they make and the uselessness of the Campus Police(CP).
Solmot pond, where many people hold Green Hofs, is situated by the library. Students who study in the library say it is hard to concentrate because they hear the noises of Green Hofs, for example loud voices and game sounds, from the fourth floor of the library both day and night. They criticize people who hold Green Hofs.
Lee Chang-gok, School of Civil Engineering '06, said, "I mostly study in the 1st floor reading room of the library, but, because the noise of Green Hofs is too loud, I have to move to the reading room on the 4th floor. However, they were still loud. Particularly during the last midterm examinations, I felt I was studying in a bar because of the noise from the drinking and games. I think people who hold Green Hofs should move to an other location to help the students who study in the library."
Noise is not the only thing to damage the people who study in the library. A lot of the rubbish from the Green Hofs, which is dumped all around Solmot pond, is a huge problem. Some days, broken bottles can badly hurt people if they trip over a stone. A lot of the rubbish is a real headache for the School of Business Building by the Solmot pond because students dump the rubbish in the wastebaskets in the 1st floor of the School of Business Building. The sight causes many people's eyebrows to raise in the mornings.
Hong Chung-pyo, Dept. of Political Science and International Relations, said, "I understand students are having Green Hofs because the weather has became warmer. However, I felt displeased to see the vomit and the rubbish around the Solmot pond whenever I pass there in the morning. I hope that students who hold Green Hofs will clean up properly."
In addition, Lim Sun-ja, a cleaning woman in CBNU, said, "The CBNU campus is overflowing with trash recently. The rubbish is piling up in patches of grass as well as at the Solmot pond. Nowadays, summer is doubly harder than winter because of a lot of rubbish and the hot weather. "
The Campus Police(CP) operates from 10pm to 11pm to prevent the noise of Green Hofs and the rubbish in CBNU. However, many students say that the CP is a useless thing. During the last midterm examinations, the CP couldn't control the students who made the noise during Green Hofs. A rumor is in circulation on the Internet community sites that the CP don't even sanction students who shout while holding Green Hofs at the Solmot pond.
One student, School of Electrial and Computer Engineering, said, "I don't know what the CP is doing. Although they patrol every day, Green Hofs are always booming. Many students consider the CP who have batons and uniforms as actors in costume. I would like the CP to work harder than before because they have received some money from CBNU."
