The Science and Technology Library opened on March 20th. It was built to support the research activities of students who major in Natural Science, Engineering and Electrial & Computer Engineering.
The Science and Technology Library consists of three separate floors. The first floor is a study room. The second and third floors are the library.
In addition, it has about 40,000 books including science and technology books which were published after 2003.
Many students feel satisfaction about the Science and Technology Library. A student who majors in Civil Engineering said, “The design of the Science and Technology Library is beautiful. In addition, it is nearer than the Central Library from my college. I think it is desirable that CBNU invests its budget for creating an academic atmosphere.”
The university officer said, “After construction of the Science and Technology Library, many science books were moved there.” He insisted that the Science and Technology Library is helping the Central Library resolve its lack of space.
However, some students have expressed their discomfort about the library`s environment. Kim Eun-ah(Dept. of Architectural Engineering, ’11) said, “Whenever I enter the library, I feel unhealthy air. Because of the smell of new building, I tried to choose books as soon as possible and go out. In addition, there were not many books about engineering and natural science in the library. I hope the library will have many books in the future.”
In addition, students who study double majors complained about using the library. One student who studies Management Information Systems said, “Marketing and accounting books are in the Central Library. However, programming books were moved to the Science and Technology Library. We feel very tiresome whenever we borrow the books.”
In response to the complaints, the university officer said, “The Science and Technology Library needs more time to satisfy students. We are working hard to resolve the smell problem and to increase the quantity of books. However, I think these things will be resolved as time goes on.”
The Science and Technology Library only has the newest books. Whenever there are new books which contain new trends and new research findings, the library will buy them for students to study more comfortably. The university officer said, “The field of science changes very quickly. To accommodate these changes, we will provide students with the newest scientific references.”
