CBNU Has Trouble Maintaining Facilities Due to a Budget Shortage
Á¦ 138 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2013.03.01

CBNU students have difficulty using sports facilities not only because they have been worn-out and poorly managed but also because of the shortage of sports facilities.
Now, the sports places in CBNU are the large stadium, the small stadium, the tennis courts near the main gate and BTL Dormitories, the basketball court in each dormitory and in the No.2 Student Union Building, and a football field next to No.2 Student Union Building. Each college also has a table tennis room, and the student councils of each college lend basic sports equipment to their students. There are two gyms in CBNU. However, students, except the ones of the Dept. Physics Education, can only use them in classes. The sports facilities in gyms are too old.
Other sports facilities as well as the gyms are old and not well maintained. There is a lot of garbage, dust and mold when it comes to table tennis rooms. For this reason, students have trouble using them. Sports equipment lent by student councils is lacking and too old. Under these situations, what students can play are only tennis, soccer, baseball and basketball.
Shon Mo-a(Dept. of Biology) said, ¡°I often use tennis courts and basketball courts. I am content with the various courts in CBNU. I comfortably use tennis courts, basketball courts and soccer fields as well because they are generally well-maintained. However, fitness equipment, which helps people to work out their muscles, is very poorly managed. In addition, they are scattered, so it¡¯s inconvenient to use them. I think that CBNU should make a fitness center and maintain it systematically.¡±
Kim hyoun-woo(Dept. of Astronomy and Space Science) said, ¡°Sports facilities in CBNU are generally too old. Most sports equipment and basketball hoops are rusty. I am concerned that this might cause safety problems. In addition, the large stadium is too dark at night. I¡¯m afraid this might cause crimes. For this reason, I don't use them often. CBNU should maintain sports equipment well. The large stadium needs to be brightened like the football court, which is bright enough to play at night.¡±
Kim hak-jun(Office of Student Affairs) said, ¡°It is difficult for the school to provide all of the student's needs. It is financially impossible to replace the broken equipment with new equipment under the present budget. It is difficult to repair all of the rusty facilities and purchase more equipment. However, we are doing our best to make the situation where students can exercise. This year, we are supposed to make a fitness center to provide students with convenience. It will be on the third and fourth floor in the No.4 Restaurant.¡±
