How Does CBNU Use Financial Support from the MOE?
Á¦ 150 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2014.09.05

CBNU is one of the universities which received the most financial support from the Ministry of Education(MOE) this year. MOE set aside about £Ü20.5 billion for CBNU this year. It is rated the 8th largest support in the nation. CBNU has been supported by ACE(Advancement of College Education), LINC(Leaders in INdustry university Cooperation) and BK21(Brain Korea 21c). CK-1(local university for Creative Korea) and support for normalization in high school education will be first started in the second half of the year. CK-1 will support funds to induce the fundamental reform of universities and develop local universities¡¯ specialization. Support for normalization in high school education is given to universities which contributed to improvement of public education through reinforcement of college admission¡¯s capabilities.

urrent progress of using support funds

ACE chooses several universities as leading models of undergraduate education and promotes them. A life-time relationship of professors and students program, CI(Communication Intensive) programs and a major certification system are typical programs of ACE. CBNU has introduced various programs for the development of liberal arts, non-curriculum activities, and major courses. The majority of programs of ACE need the participation of many students, such as encouraging reading programs, English clinics and volunteering certificates. Half of the budget will be used for operating costs and support for students¡¯ programs this year. The other half of the budget will be used for evaluation and analysis of programs.
CK-1¡¯s outline is still not completed because it is starting this year. On the whole, the support fund will be used for reinforcing students¡¯ specialization capabilities and practical education, such as capacity building of employment, job practice in the field, global capacity building, and support for disabled students. About one third of the support fund will be used for improvement of experimental conditions, such as lecture rooms and materials. And there are lots of programs that directly support money to students such as track scholarships, internships, employment clubs and acquisition of certificates, which are mainly related to careers.
