An aroma is unvisible language, and it exists in every part of our lives. The job which deals with aroma is a perfumer. In this issue, CBT met Jeong Mi-Soon who is a perfumer. Let’s listen to the story that is more fragrant than a perfume from her that tells of challenge with passion and not to be afraid even if the barriers to get through are high. -Ed.
 
CBT: Why did you choose the job, perfumer, that was not popular at that time?
Jeong Mi-Soon: From childhood, I was very interested in incenses, and I liked them. However, it was a direct start to read the biography of Estee Lauder when I was a student. After that, the desire to perfume began. To be a perfumer, I graduated the department of chemistry and studied about perfume in Tokyo for three years. Thereafter, I gained a domestic license from Galimard france, and opened a purfume school in Korea. The passion that wallowed in perfume in my younger days led me to this position.
CBT: What is the most important thing when selecting a job?
Jeong: I think the passion for the job is the most important. I have loved perfume from childhood, and now I engage in what I love. If you decide on the job, because you love that field, and you want to study more about it, the job will be a joyful one to you. As shown in the book “The Secret,” if I dream what I want to do and try to do it, the road will be closer to you spontaneously. In addition to that, if you pour your love into one thing, whatever the jobs or people are, the thing will make you happy in return.
CBT: Please give some advice to CBNU students.
Jeong: In my younger age, I had some reckless features, so I started a job that I like with a passion. In that process, I wasn’t afraid, but there were many mistakes. However, I think that I can come here thanks to those mistakes. People who want to be in a job in an undeveloped field like perfumer need courage. If you are in a situation that you hesitate without determination, you can not gain anything. With a passion for something you like, you must have courage and challenge. Even if the door is narrow, it doesn’t mean that the door can not be opened. Of course, there are difficulties when you do work that other’s don’t. However, when you overcome those difficulties and achieve success, you sense a personel fulfillment that you will gain maybe more. In this process, having beliefs for yourselves is important.
