On February 6, Chungcheongbuk-do and the National Folk Museum held a declaration ceremony of ‘The 2012 Chungbuk Folk Culture Year(2012CFCY)’ in the Cheongju Culture ＆ Arts Center. The declaration ceremony had four events, which were a standing event, an event before the official ceremony, an official ceremony and an event afterwards.
Chungcheongbuk-do is the 6th province implementing ‘Regional Folk Culture Year’ for ‘the excavation and activation of national folk resources.’ Chungbuk and the National Folk Museum co-sponsored ‘2012CFCY’.
The purpose of this program is looking for ways to utilize folk culture as regional tourist attractions by investigating folk culture and finding ways to conserve and maintain cultural inheritance of traditions. As a result, this program could preserve our folk culture buried by rapid industrial development.
‘2012CFCY’ will promote businesses and events. The program largely includes the establishment of information in folk cultural resources, the restoration of Chungbuk's life, and the development of tourism products for folk culture. Last year, 14 programs were created, such as the scientific investigation of Namhangang and Kumgang, the basic investigation on Chungbuk picnics of a line of kings, the restoration of life of Chungbuk, and the recording of folk songs of Chungbuk. This year, 23 programs will be implemented based on last year's research and studies.
The event has eight parts, such as the declaration and closing ceremonies, the visiting children's museum, the photo exhibition and the signboard hanging ceremony of Chungbuk's Folk Village. The photo exhibition and the signboard hanging ceremony of Chungbuk's Folk Village shed light on the lives of the local people through the release of the on-the-spot surveys' data on folk culture. It will hold the unveiling ceremony of the signboards and deliver them to Chungbuk's Folk Village where they will go on exhibition between July and December.
‘2012CFCY’ will close at the end of the closing ceremony in December.
