Chungbuk Province Makes an Effort to Build Its Infrastructure

 Chungbuk province has various attractions and a clean natural environment. For example, Danyang-gun in Chungbuk has ¡°Danyang 8 Great Views¡± harmonizing the clear water with strange rocks and bizarre stones. In addition, Chungbuk has Daecheong dam and Chungju dam, which have great views and large lakes. Cheong Nam Dae, where the president visits to take a vacation, is located next to Daecheong dam. Chungbuk has 3 mountains national parks: Mt.Worak. Mt.Songni. Mt.Sobaek. Chungbuk has not only natural tourist attractions but also historical tourist attractions. For example, Cheongju city has Sangdang Mountain Fortress and Cheongju Museum. Chungbuk has approximately 280 tourist attractions. However, Chungbuk is short of tourists compared to the number of tourist attractions. Chungbuk is making an effort to increase the number of tourists and complement its infrastructure.
 Chungbuk is trying to build more accommodations. For example, Cheongju city will build traditional Korean villages and make an effort to attract private capital for satisfying the shortage of accommodations. In addition, Local government plans to develop various tourism productions because Chungbuk is considered to be short of what tourists eat, watch and enjoy as tourist attractions. For example, Chungbuk tries to increase the number of tourists through diverse local festivals. Chungbuk is holding 50 various local festivals throughout the year, where exciting and various programs for tourists to experience the local culture are offered. In addition, Chungbuk will develop tourist attractions fitting just right to each city and build its infrastructure for boosting the number of tourists. Chungbuk held international festivals to increase not only domestic tourists but also foreign tourists. The representative example is 'The 8th Jecheon International Film Festival'. The festival was held in Jecheon for 7 days from August 9th to 15th this year. In the 8th Jecheon International Film Festival, 101 pieces of music and 50 performances were played during 7 days.
 Chungbuk has practiced the '5th Tourist Development Plan' to increase the number of tourists since 2011. The vision of the 'Tourist Development Plan' was to represent Chungbuk as being full of life and well-being. Chungbuk will invest 6.53 trillion won in tourism development to will strategically carry out its plan about the exploitation of sightseeing resources and the business of tourism.
