One of the most popular and beautiful places in Jecheon is *Cheongpung Culture Complex (CCC). CCC was moved and rebuilt. To maintain cultural assets when the Chungju Dam was being built, they moved the cultural assets to CCC. Also, there is a place where you can see wild flowers. On the top of the CCC, there is the Mangwol mountain fortress wall and there is a pavilion in the castle. The scenery at the pavilion is so wonderful. From the pavilion, you can see a fountain and the Cheongpung Hoban stage.
Walking five minutes from CCC, there is the SBS drama studio. “Iljimae” and “Jang gil san” were filmed in the SBS drama studio. It is a nice place for a package tour. Moreover, some of the articles from the set which were used to make a drama are still there. In the drama studio, there are some places to eat, so you can hardly feel bored.
One of the Jecheon 10 famous sights, “*Uirimji,” is very beautiful. In the early morning, the sun light of Uirimji looks like the sunlight shining on a sandy beach. If you take a photo, it will be a perfect shot. Now, it is famous as an amusement park. Around Uirimji, there are hundred-year-old pine trees and a 30m waterfall.
When CBT visited Jecheon, people were prepared for Jecheon International Music and Film Festival (JIMFF), which is held once a year. JIMFF intends to make music in the film popular. It is also for expanding the film festival and the film festival’s diversity. The JIMFF stage is next to Uirimji. In the hot weather, the JIMFF staff prepared for the big concert that evening. Watching that, I could imagine the hot stage in the evening. There is a “Photo Zone” stage where you can take a photo with movie scenes, posters and JIMFF helpers. Also, you can visit, “Reflecting Paper Film” where you can make a simple paper film. A paper film is similar with a movie film, and you can watch film festival trailers on paper film. Including these two events, there are many places to enjoy. Moreover, “2009 OST Museum,” which is a huge container box, showed information about the former famous music directors and original sound tracks.
Looking around outside of Jecheon city, you can see the holy ground “*Baeronseongji.” It has the most important meaning for Roman Catholicism. It is located in the heart of a mountain, and it is the original place of spreading Korean Roman Catholicism. This place looked holy because of a nun who was praying seriously. Wastefully, CBT arrived in the afternoon, but the bus which went to downtown Jecheon came in the evening, so we moved on foot. Walking about 15 minutes from Baeronseongji, we arrived in “*Taksajeong.” Taksajeong is a famous valley near Jecheon, and many people go in summer to dabble in the water. Most people are confused about what Taksajeong is. It is not a pavilion; it is a site near the pavilion.
This year, on September 16, Jecheon will hold the Jecheon Herb & Health festival. If you want a wonderful date with your boyfriend/girlfriend, take the earliest train which goes to Jecheon. You can watch the sunrise in Uirimji, walk around the CCC and appreciate nature on the Mangwol pavilion. After lunch, enjoy the Jecheon Herb & Health festival and play in the water in Taksajeong. Finally, come back to Cheongju on the last train. It will be fantastic .
