The mentoring program was introduced to our school in 2011. It is not only meant to counsel students with professors about overall information of school life, future career and employment, but like its name, it is also meant to maintain a lifelong teacher-student relationship, even after the student¡¯s graduation or employment.
 
Do you know Cheong-ju Art Planner? That group is trying to create opportunities for university students to experience culture. The group members of Cheong-ju Art Planner have a dream about planning public performances. They have planned performances, exhibits and parties. The CBT met Lee Han-ha, who organized Cheong-ju Art Planner. Cheong-ju Art Planner is for Cheong-ju college students who have little chance to experience youth culture.
 
Recently, there has been a no smoking boom in South Korea. The cigarette prices went up by 2,000 won early this year. The no smoking areas have also been extended. Prohibiting smoking in internet cafes and restaurants is mandatory. This boom influenced clinics for quitting smoking to be crowded. Warning images and warning phrases will be seen on packs of cigarettes from December of next year.
 
This semester, a small library has formed near the front lawn of the College of Humanities. The name of this library is Giljabi Byeolnaru, which means the Pole Star to guide. This library is just a small bookcase of wood and everyone who is a Chungbuk National University student can use this.
 
CBNU exchange student programs are divided into 3 categories like this chart. Most students prefer the Hakgi program because the standards to apply are lower than the sister university program. Sister universities accept only TOEFL, and its score should be more than IBT 80. It is that same as 800~900 on the TOEIC. However, in the case of the Hakgi program,
 
There is a band which became popular after CBNU¡¯s festival in October. This band is called Hwang-So Band(Hwang-So is a Korean bull's name) whose members consist of CBNU staff members. It is considered the first selection for festivals in Chungbuk National University. Thus, a CBT reporter met its members and heard about their story.
 
Many students drink alcohol together many times on campus because Chungbuk National University has a wide campus with lots of grass. However, this action, called ¡®green hof¡¯ among CBNU students, is restrained by the campus police. The Campus police started in 2008 and is composed of 3 teams that have 5 students.
 
This year, many facilities are under construction on campus. Among them, the renovation of the Central Library was the most important construction for students. The reason is that each college is only used by its own students. In contrast, the Central Library is used by all CBNU students.
 
Many people say that one of the most important problems Korea has is the low birthrate average. Because of it, the population in Korea will decrease continuously, and then Korea may have trouble in retaining its economic wealth. Not surprisingly, Korea is already suffering from a decreasing population
 
Science Citation Index(SCI) is a database of Thomson Scientific that includes a theses index of published scientific journals. They decide on registered journals through their own standards and evaluation of experts every year.
 
Vacation is literally taking a break from classes. But for college students, vacation is more than its literal meaning. Many college students make their plans about how they will spend their vacation. The online job search portal site ¡®Saram-in¡¯ gave a survey about the most idealistic vacation to 319 college students, and the results were as follows
 
The first satellite contest, which was supervised by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, was hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning on July 16th. 11 teams participated and our school proudly passed. The leading role models in the Korean space field were near us.
 
The new semester started, so many students should be interested about their major and other majors. There is a way to take other courses outside of your major courses for students who are interested in another major. If you want to take other majors, how about taking a multi-major or a major with a minor.
 
Some places in CBNU have been used as backgrounds for movies and dramas. These facts are widely known and were reported in the media on Aug. 5th. Almost all students had a positive response. At the end of July, Solmot was used as a background for the drama named ¡®What¡¯s the ghost doing?¡¯ on KBS 2TV.
 
When you walk in CBNU, you might see a person who strolls on campus, but this person is not a university student. People who come to the school mostly visit to do their business or to exercise. However, people¡¯s visit seem to be a problem because some people come to school for impure motives.
 
A large number of young people are showing interest in start-ups due to the chronic low employment rate. According to the survey, 1 in 3 people aged in their twenties and thirties have considered starting up their own business. Many celebrities with experience in successful start-ups positively recommend young people to found a company
 
CBNU students necessarily have student ID cards. The student ID card is usually issued in March right after the students enter school. The fee of the student ID card is free for the first time. However, if students lose their card, the reissuance fee is 9,000 won. When one student loses the student ID card, he should pay an enormous amount as a student. CBT reporters compared CBNU with 8 other universities.
